| | | | Growing up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and attending Poly Prep Country Day School, by way of Prep for Prep, I enjoyed the best of both worlds. Often I was told that I would have to choose, but, I can triumphantly say that I've successfully defied the principle of choosing or… maybe I just chose myself, my values and my principles. Starting out, in those days, with two sets of friends and two sets of interests, I can say that with my varied life experiences, I have now mastered the art of being one person to all people… most importantly to myself… take it or leave it.
Education
After graduating a semester early from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in December 1998, I completed a quick circuit around Corporate America starting as a Corporate Finance Analyst with Goldman Sachs rising slightly to Corporate Strategy Associate at Time Warner.
Following my time with Time Warner, I went to law school seeking further fulfillment ... a higher sense of purpose. I found it in D.C. at Howard University's School of Law with the Criminal Justice Clinic and the Trial Advocacy Moot Court, and with graduating in the top 6% of my class, 8th, that is, in my class of 145.
Professional Experience
I went to law school with the hope of having my own practice in family law and criminal defense, and, committed to experiences that would further my vision. During law school, I clerked in DC at Arnold & Porter and at the Public Defender Service, and defended cases in Miami at the Dade County’s Public Defender Office, juvenile division.
After graduating cum laude from Howard University’s School of Law and being admitted to the NY and NJ bars, my next stop was the Kings County District Attorney's office to gain intimate knowledge of the criminal justice system and its various parts but more importantly to learn the values and tactics of the prosecution and law enforcement. Of my time spent with the DA's office, almost two years was spent with the innovative Red Hook Community Justice Center where I gained exposure to many domestic violence and family law related cases.
